Schliersee

D E S C R I P T I O N

Schliersee is one of the more dreamy lakes of Southern Bavaria. It has winds coming from different directions due to its situation between mountains but open to the north.

There are not many sailors around, which makes it enev more interesting to us.

The lake has a small island with a hotel on it; the north end features the town Schliersee that also has Schliersberg, a mountain accessible on foot or with a cable railway.

Coming in from the north, take A8 Munich-Salzburg.

Approaching on A8 from east, take the exit "Irschenberg", from west, "Weyarn". Follow the road towards Miesbach and stay on the street going south until you reach the lake.

There are several places where you have access to the lake. If you need to unpack the boat and inflate it, the best place is a the boat rental at the southern end, where you can unpack the boad and then park the car a few yards away.

There is limited parking place. After 12 PM, there is no way to get to the water.

For hikers, there is a beautiful way around the lake, especially if the weather is not that great for sailing. Go up the mountain to the remains of an old castle, and then follow the track around the lake.
